Share a part of the life of our consultants by discovering their hobbies! This month, let's talk about Balndine FRAISSE (d²X lyon) and her passion for full-contact technique/boxing!

 Combat

What is your passion ?

I practice the full contact technique (among other things!) which is a fighting sport using foot and fist boxing type. Right now I could use some fun kicking a bag or doing some skipping rope, but I can't!

[Note : Full-Contact boxing combines the punching techniques and competition procedures of English boxing with kicking techniques inspired by karate.].

When and how did you start?

I started about 3 years ago with a coach in a gym. At the beginning, the full contact techniques were more like a cross fit circuit but little by little, the coach taught us different moves, sequences and many, many technical gestures to be repeated tirelessly! For about a year now, I have been taking real full contact technique lessons with another teacher.

What do you like about this activity / passion?

What I like is the notion of respect for the opponent and the surpassing oneself. When we are in sparring (in free combat training with a partner), the goal is to understand the other's technique, anticipate, parry the blows and be the best to win. So it's a good way to let off steam. But once the bell rings, we become civilized people again, congratulating each other on what we did well! I didn't think it was such a technical sport, but it does require a lot of effort, repetition of blows and sequences, and self-sacrifice to succeed in making the right move, the right jab or the right circle (kick)!

And in your daily life, how does your passion fit in?

I take classes once a week and I follow, when I can, cardio boxing classes where boxing techniques are combined with cardio exercises.

Have you acquired skills that you use in your life?

I like to surpass myself ! I am a very competitve person, while still respecting the rules! I also like to work as a team, for me we are stronger together than alone! In boxing, training allows us to have different partners each time and thanks to the coach we can improve collectively and share the victories!

Thank you Blandine for sharing your passion!
